I like all your influences, but you have failed to match them. This song is FAR from epic and you are so full of yourself you have become blind.. and deaf by the sound of it.

sorry what band are you in? To give this criticism you must be in an awesome band, the point of influences is to draw from them not sound like them. But cheer for the comment very helpful.
Cheers Jonny.

There you go again with your inflated ego, to criticise your band must mean i'm in an super AWESOME band! NO Jonny, I just have ears and brain. Which is more that can be said for you, with your high school year 10 education i'm suprised you can even post on this forum.
Bands like Dream Theater and Rush are successful because they're intelligent and creative. Unfortunately for you, you lack both of these qualitys. Now maybe it's time to drop the John Petrucci with Down's Syndrome image you've got going on and go actually learn something about music.

Agreed I was listening to the and LTE and I thought that it lacked bollocks and soul, then I watched the dream theatre vid advertising the boxset and I thought whore, whorey whore whore, whorish whore of whorest whoriety.
They can play extremely fast but like the whore said to the eunuch:"wheres the fucking Ballls man"
As for Zebedy: Jonnies playing is tight, the band are al nice guys but I want them to have lived a little so it comes through in there music, Jonny slap your wife about, slap your baby about gett yourself sum addictions and go to jail for granny rape, live on the streets of the bay and earn cash as a rent boy and piss and shit yourself for a month and then write a song about it, then repeat procedure for the next song and your on your way to a winner.

Pff yeah right, his playing is as tight as Dale Winton's arse and he even struggles playing his own riffs, which of the majority are just scales pawned off as songs.
As for him being a "nice guy" he's probably the least modest person i've ever had the misfortune of talking too and an arrogant prick to boot. Yeah, an all round unhumbled gloating cockpiece.

Is it just me or have Rush and Dream Theatre always been a little bit... erm... boring? I have no doubt that Mr Peart is an amazing drummer and Alex Lifeson is a very unique guitarist, but Geddy Lee's vocals have been consistently horrible for a while now. Sygmas X7 had some good meaty bass stabs near the end but Lee's vocals were way too 'challenging' for me and the songs often last for absolutely AGES, by which time I could have listened to at least 4 songs by Napalm Death or Slayer. As for Dream Theatre - they can all play the guitar very fast, have lovely hair and know everything about music theory, but are they actually entertaining? Answers on a postcard. This post makes me laugh, especially given who has posted it. You call Dream Theater boring yet you have been trying your hardest to be a guitar virtuoso for 99% of your life. Only trouble is you fail miserably and mask it with an array of low quality guitar effects like the guy from Muse. Maybe when performing you should change your name to Duncan's Sack Of Shit.

I haven't actually released anything since 2005 and have been working as a music lecturer in Kent, but it's good to know people keep up themselves informed on what I'm up to. It's so nice to be back in Wales... Why did you delete your Dream Theater rant, simple man? That kind of sarcastic shit will get you nowhere, which is exactly why you deleted it- fucktard. Man up. Who have you been lecturing music to, autistic people? Surely they're the only people who would listen to anything you have to say- if at all.

Jonny's probably wanking over the amount of views and posts in this thread, even if it is all hatred towards him. It all counts hey Jonny? haha.
He won't reply though because his brain can only think two things... Who's playing at the Old Hall and how ACE he is.

I would like the chance to defend myself in relation to the above statements levelled against me which I feel are unfair and aggressive to say the least. Following this I have vowed not to post on link2wales for a while as it is becoming too volatile. Firstly, if anyone wants to dislike my music, that is their right to do so. I have nothing against anyone here and the recent attacks have been dissapointing as I have had a generally good relationship with this forum over the years. Secondly, the slurs against my standing as a college lecturer are completely without foundation to the best of my knowledge. If anyone would like to elaborate on where these rumours are emanating from I would be very interested to hear from them. Thirdly I have never referred to myself as a 'guitar virtuoso' and I have little interest in being one. Anyone who knowsme will tell you my influences are more leftfield (Mr Bungle? Ed Alleyne Johnson?). It is true I recorded one solo album of instrumental guitar music 5 years ago. However, I have recorded hundreds of other songs as a band member for so many different groups I have lost count. To judge almost 20 years of music on 2 or 3 songs that are almost 5 years old is extreme to say the least. Fourthly, I have deleted my posts for no other reason than I do not wish to be connected with a discussion that has collapsed into aggressive name-calling and point scoring. That is all. Lastly, if anyone is annoyed with my not-entirely-serious statement that Dream Theater are 'a bit boring' then I apologise in all seriousness. I will do my best to learn about their music and give it a bit more thought next time. I also apologise to Skittles for the deleted 'sarcastic rant' [/sarcasm]. In future I will only post on this forum in cases where I have some news. There is a new band line-up that will be gigging soon. Many of you will be pleased to hear it has nothing to do with prog rock or 'frenetic shred guitar'. In all likely-hood, I may have to delete this post, but that is all. I would prefer to leave this discussion on good terms rather than bad. Cheerio. Duncan. quoted so you don't, wuv u I'll be back for you in a few days. In the meantime, have a good weekend guys. BACONOUT.
