Sona - Really Good With Cages ...
Well ... do you not think it more appropiate to be really good with originality? No?
11 tracks of the most dull and obvious 'grunge' i've ever heard. Kurt Cobain will be weeping in his grave had his face not been torn off by buckshot.
another northwales band. another miss. figures GD picks them up as the next best thing.

... and so the backlash begins. Heaven forbid a band from n.Wales gets heard beyond the confines of their own town.
Far from picking "them up as the next best thing", I hope I have given them a chance to prove they are worthy of bigger and better things.
My label (and I say my label as I am co-owner) is home to several multi platinum selling, Grammy winning artists (as well as many up and coming artists).
I make no apologies for making a living out of the music business. It has taken me nearly 35 years to get to this position, where perhaps I can help artists who I actually respect.
But of course no matter what I do, which bands I sign there is always going to be those who know better.
The "original" writer of this post is of course entitled to his/her opinion, on what he/she likes/dislikes. What I do take exception to is the assumption that you know my business.

For fuck's sake leave them alone! I am really fucking pig-sick of North Wales constant fucking 'let's shoot them down before they get anywhere' drivel. It's no wonder nothing much happens. What does North Wales currently have to offer in terms of successful mainstream music artists? Fucking Duffy. Aled Fucking Jones. Super Furry Fucking Animals (who aren't doing much at the moment). Link2wales is about the punk DIY attitude. It's not the fucking NME. Some people here expect too fucking much. Yes, the music needs to be good, but for fuck's sake! Sona are not on the front page of every fucking music magazine in the country right now. They probably recorded their CD for fun more than anything. What the fuck is the point in attacking this band?!! This site is about trying to lift these bands out of the sewer. Whoever started this thread is on the wrong fucking website. Piss off back to fucking www.poser-bands-that-make-shit-loads-of-money.com. Either that or go back to walking around Oxfam moaning about the lack of choice in the music section. You are helping no-one.

This\\\\\\\'d be great news for Sona if they\\\\\\\'d signed to a proper label. dPulse is a fucking joke. Swallowed homespun up in a storm of GD\\\\\\\'s usual deluded bullshit. Fact of the matter is that he wouldn\\\\\\\'t know a good band if it came up and gave him anaesthetic-free liposuction.
But even worse is the act of conning local bands into thinking they\\\\\\\'ve got something they clearly haven\\\\\\\'t. A \\\\\\\'record deal\\\\\\\' with dPulse is a sham. Just like the expensive press kits were a sham. Leeching off band\\\\\\\'s dreams, offering false hope and false expectations, is one way to make a living, I suppose.
He\\\\\\\'s right about there being plenty of people who know better though. There are 1000\\\\\\\'s.
I challenge him to name one band / artist / release he\\\\\\\'s been involved in, ever, that has earned kudos, royalties, national airplay or press / media coverage for whoever has the misfortune of being represented by him / \\\\\\\'his\\\\\\\' label.
Stupid sanctimonious bullshitter even has the front to have an \\\\\\\'Anonie Mouse\\\\\\\' thread on this fucking wilderness of a forum, then disrespect that anonymity by passing on / revealing info based on IP addresses.
I\\\\\\\'d be happy for Sona if this was a decent deal. They\\\\\\\'d be better off selling their album themselves through bandcamp. A label with the terrible reputation that dPulse has is going to get more doors shut in their faces than opened. Fact.

So because they're from north wales they get a gold star for effort??? geeet lost! Originality is originalty, doesn't matter what back water frogspawn they emerged from!
And i'll tell you what i'd like to see that list of grammy nominated multi platinum artists you've signed mr GD. Yes I would.

So because they're from north wales they get a gold star for effort??? geeet lost! Originality is originalty, doesn't matter what back water frogspawn they emerged from! Hmm.... Yes - They probably deserve a gold star. I shouldn't need to point out why. With respect - Aren't you supposed to 'build them up' before you 'knock them down'? That doesn't work in reverse. Of all the bands you could have chosen to have a pop at, you chose an obscure band from the middle of nowhere who don't even have a record deal. That's a bit odd no? You could have selected one of the following bunch of successful music twats - Phill Collins, U2, Muse, Chris De Burgh, Jamioquai, Simon Cowell, Pete Doherty, Daniel O'Donell, Gary Glitter, Des O'Connor, Cliff Richard, Crazy Frog, Sharon Osbourne, Paris Hilton, etc, etc, etc... Those are more logical targets. It's not like Sona are on the TV twenty-four hours a day. They really aren't annoying anyone at all. You don't even HAVE to ignore them. If you don't like Sona, why bother posting anything about them at all? Why bother to get people talking about them? In fact why bother coming to a site devoted to bands who languish in obscurity? Are you a masochist or something?

Hahaha!! Just seen all of this!!! Right, to the original poster... 1. Thank you for buying our album. I figure you must have bought it as it isn't being streamed in full anywhere- so you must have heard all 11 tracks to give us your valued contribution, right? Thanks... 2. Originality. Right, please tell me where we have EVER claimed to be some ground-breaking, original band..?! In fact, we're happy with how we sound- even our myspace is www.myspace.com/sonaGRUNGE It's not as if we duped you into thinking we were anything else..?! My favourite bands happen to be 'grunge' bands, which kinda leads me to making grunge music. 3. Like one of the other posters said, 'we probably made the album for fun'- guess what, we did. We like this genre of music and recorded it primarily for ourselves- we've never submitted it to a label, dPulse approached us. And we're happy to be working with Martin, a guy who I have a lot of respect for- he's certainly done more for the local music scene than some two-bit anonymous poster who's too scared to use their real name..! So, in summary, if you don't like us, I don't give a shit. And you shouldn't either- just go n listen to something else. Something... "original".

You do care. You replied. They care enough to say they don't care. Wow. Should we call the press now? This is really exciting stuff.

i'm bothered about the boring same old same old that is championed in our dead end counties.
we should be rewarding and praising new and fresh talent and fresh new sounds. The problem here is that nothing is pushing the envelope. name 5 bands that are getting out of north wales and trying to push through the same old recycled crap and i will take everything i've said back.

Bastions, We Are Animal, Leucine, Inferno, Whales, Kixxstart Kitty, Y Niwl... Oh shit, sorry, that's 7 I wouldn't say Whales were just recycling? It's original and unique music, i think!? Was the question/challenge to list bands who are original AND getting out of north Wales or did I miss-read? I haven't heard We Are Animal or Y Niwl.

Ha ha, I haven't forgotten you, was just seeing if you were reading and if you'd comment The writer challenged the reader to find 5 bands who were pushing thru the recycled crap and getting out of North Wales... I love Whales... You could / should include Seagull Kinevil too for their music is far from recycled, but they at present seem firmly embedded around the Ynys Mon area of late (I know they've had drummer problems)... Also the likes of Impaled Existence, Hecate Enthroned and Merciless Savage need a mention.. And hey! Carpet are supporting The Exploited at The Tiv....!!

sure Neil, sure! Seagull Kinevil...it irritates me that they aren't everywhere. The Tiv's in north Wales? Carpet should be touring and breaking out of their comfort zone...in my humble opinion. I get the impression, after many years, they just don't want to, or am I wrong. Fair enough. Damn them for getting that support slot though, well wanted it, we've never had that pleasure!
