Someone told me Gintis smashed up all their equipment on stage at Blu last Wednesday and were bundled out of the doors by security. Punk rock..!
Is this true? Detailed account please someone....

If they did, it would have been the most interesting thing they'd ever done, not very original, but we are talking Gintis here!

Depends upon what you define as punk, I guess!!!
Basically Gintis were well oiled at soundcheck time, took the decision to go on last and proceded to get a good deal more lairy by the time they took to the stage.
At the end of their set they trashed their gear in a manner that made The Who look like beginners - we're talking guitars, keyboards and amps going through the drumkit here - and to be perfectly honest it's their choice if they want to fuck their own gear up.
However, by accident or otherwise, they also pushed a guitar head through the ceiling and in the general carnage may also have screwed up more channels on the multicore.
The end result was some extremely pissed off doorstaff who specifically asked me to point out the band members to them.
My response was to say that they'd already left and I then grabbed Carl and advised him to get the rest of the band and their gear out of the venue pronto as I couldn't be sure of the doorstaff's intentions.
I reacted to the situation as a mate - if I'd responded on a purely professional level I may not have been quite as forgiving.
Basically, I had to wait until the end of the night before I could start clearing away the aftermath which ultimately meant I didn't get home until 4.30 and I then had to return to the venue by 9.30 to smooth things over with the management.
In the event, the management have been reasonably forgiving about what happened but I suspect that this has more to do with the fact that The Honey Club is giving Blu's other nights a bit of a hammering, meaning they need the Wednesday nights rather more than they used to.
Had this happened pre-Honey Club, we may have been talking about the end of the Wednesday night gigs, primarily because of the damage to the ceiling.
Add to this the fact that I had to deal with a drunk who staggered across the stage while Gintis were playing because the doorstaff had gone AWOL and I ended Wednesday night as a very pissed off individual.
No, it wasn't punk rock, it was a bunch of drunken mates going on the kind of rampage that lads have gone on since the year dot - not big, not clever and certainly not punk rock.
Conclusion? I haven't got a problem with Gintis either as a band or as individuals - God knows I did some stupid, wantonly destructive things when I was their age and I'd had a drink - but I have got a problem with anything that threatens the continued existence of the gigs.
What happened on Wednesday has thrown up several issues that need to be addressed, not the least of which is a clear of understanding where the line is drawn between good old rock n roll showmanship and unacceptable destruction of property.
Security has once again become an issue - as well as this week's incident with the drunkard, I had to deal last week with a confrontation in the audience during Carpet's set because there was no sign of doorstaff - and ongoing issues with the upkeep of the PA need to be addressed, because I am no longer prepared to have Craig in an unenviable position where he has to patch up things as he goes along.
At the end of Wednesday night I felt like walking away from it all but I'd be doing that because of the actions of others and I'm only going to walk away when I decide that I want to - now THAT'S punk rock!!!!

As I said in my previous post, what happened on Wednesday has brought a few issues to a head. The security issues are already being taken care of and my main concern now is the PA. Craig is having to use a system where at least one of the monitors is scuppered, a number of the mics are on their last legs and the multicore is losing more channels than ITV Digital!!! This is clearly unfair both to him and the bands so things will be sorted, one way or another.
