1. Oasis - Lyla (not strictly a cover I know, but they pilfered the guitar riff from Blockbuster {the song, not the kids TV programme!!!}).
2. Mighty Diamonds - Tracks Of My Tears (Motown's finest moment reduced to insipid pop-reggae by trio who should know better).
3. The Beat - Tears Of A Clown (Motown's second finest moment reduced to insipid pop-ska by quintet who should know better).
4. Soft Cell - Tainted Love (Northern soul's finest moment reduced to insipid synth-pop by duo who were probably too wasted to know any better).
5. Ramones - Baby I Love You (To be fair, you'd sound pretty crap if Phil Spector was pointing a gun at your head).
6. Sex Pistols - Something Else/ C'Mon Everybody (Sid was a puppet, Talcy Malcy was an exploitative piece of shit but Mr Pickles {AKA Richard Branson} took all the money).
7. Echo & the Bunnymen - People Are Strange (As pointless and as anodine as the movie {The Lost Boys} from which it came).
8. UK Subs - She's Not There (Ugly, loathesome, boring, devoid of all merit - and so was their version of the song).
9. Stranglers - Walk On By (see #8).
10. William Shatner - Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds (probably the worst record you will ever hear, has to be experienced to be believed).

Megadeth's 'Anarchy in the UK' is worse.
What about Louise - 'Stuck in the middle with you'?

How about Amii Stewart's disco assassinations of Light My Fire and Bridge Over Troubled Water?

Steve, don't you think Shatners' Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds deserves a place in the worst & best as does his take on Pulp's Common People which is pure genius. Also what the fuck does anodine mean ? Are they like paracetomol ?

I think its Sugababes I heard doing the Arctic Monkeys' You Look Good on The Dancefloor - you could tell the backing band was a bunch of 40 year old session musician twats with no soul. Shit idea.
There again Mike Peters and Steve Allan Jones doing 'Imagine' at a Gathering 4 or 5 years ago was pretty stomach churning.
PSST's God Save The Queen..!!!!
