RHYL...
I can only think of 5, but there's gotta be more...
1. CATATONIA - International Velvet (I discovered the true paradise of rhyl)
2. MELYS - Chinese Whispers (we go to rhyl for a takeaway)
3. PSST - Beirut In Rhyl (dirty old town, there's no one around)
4. ALARM - Unsafe Building (about leaving rhyl)
5. ALARM - My Town (self explanatory)
For years I was convinced THE CLASH's 'Straight To Hell' said 'How's about a british jig at rhyl' - but it turned out to be 'on reel'
I guess you start an Abergele thread with Junebug's 'Abergele' !!

In 1988 I (almost) had a drunken fight in a bar in Rhodes over an argument about Thin Lizzy's The Boys Are Back In Town with an Irish guy who was convinced that the line "down at Dino's Bar'n'Grill" was "down at Dinos Bar in Rhyl",luckily I was dragged away to have sex with a very fat lady in the toilet. However, this has given me the inspiration for my next thread -Top 10 Misheard Lyrics, but for now -
1) ABERGELE NEXT TIME - PALE FOUNTAINS (album track about soon to be smackheads always going to Rhyl from Liverpool on holiday but wishing they were going to,my town, Abergele,IRONY OR FUCKING WHAT!!!) 2) NOTHING TO DO IN A TOWN CALLED LEATHERHEAD - UNKOWN PUNK BAND (got this on a compilation of obscure punk singles but can't be arsed lookin for it right now to find out who it's by) 3) BOTTLE NECK AT CAPEL CURIG - HALF MAN HALF BISCUIT (Brings a tear of joy for 2 reasons,1 - My dad's from Capel Curig,2) - sold this for £6 to Carl Gintis (tax dodger) last year 4) HERSHAM BOYS - SHAM 69 (Laced up boots & cordouroys? Sounds like Llansannan) 5) HANDSWORTH REVOLUTION - STEEL PULSE (Never been to Handsworth, might be nice, doubt it,but it's a track one of my Top 10 albums, shit, not another new thread??? 6) GUNS OF BRIXTON - THE CLASH - see above 7) LLANFAIR PG - SUPER FURRY ANIMALS (Who's coat is that jacket hanging on the floor of my xr3i?) 8) MAX'S KANSAS CITY - WAYNE COUNTY & THE ELECTRIC CHAIRS (1.45am,2 cans of Stella left, getting desperate) 9) THERE'S A CLOUD OVER LIVERPOOL - TEENAGE FILMSTARS (Got this for Xmas when I was 13 & my mum let me order £20 worth of stuff from the Small Wonder mail order catalogue, there's a line about going to Anfield to watch Liverpool against West Brom ("which Liverppool won 3-1").as if Crud 10) YOU RHYLY GOT ME - The Kinks (night night)

i always thought he sed Colwyn bay too! and "the bells of old colwyn" in clash city rockers. The men they couldnt hang did a song called colwyn bay, makes it sound dead exotic! I have been to Handsworth, its full of marvelous looking rastas with thick brummy/jamican accents

I remember John Peel playing a track called Bethesda by some US band (may have been The Grifters).
Also the ELECTRO HIPPIES drummer lived in a house in Liverpool called Llysfaen...!
And yes, The Pogues are shit...
