I found a tape the other day of Radio 1 doing a countdown of the 20 most punk people to ever exist. This is my top 10 (in no order)
Chris Morris - for having the balls to make the brass eye pedofile special and to question society in such a way that he does
Jello Biafra - for never keeping his mouth shut and what he did Re: Tipper Gore
Bjork - For not comforming as the idealistic pop star and being original, some of her music is more punk than the likes of the Exploited! Fact
Ian Mackaye - for going against what the punk scene had started to become and never charging anymore than a reasonable amount of $$$$ for Cd's and Shows
Johnny Cash - For being Johnny Cash, what else can be said
John Peel - For playing punk when it was most unfashionable and losing half his audience and not giving a shit
Bill Hicks - For making the audience petrified of one man and a microphone
Tim Armstrong - Shows that the american dream can exist, plus thinking musically you cant leave this man out of the top 10!
Dee Dee Ramone - For pissing off all the other ramones by dressing in rap gear in the late 80's plus all the songs he wrote for the ramones and the tough life he had.
Plan B - For Going against the grain of traditional "i am from this town and this town is better than the other towns" type rapping and having the balls to speak up.
I cant believe i left out Joe Strummer, John Lydon and Crass! ah well, thats the way it goes, they were the first ten that popped into my head to be honest .....and Fat Mike too! bollocks!
