except it wasn't this had been advertised for months as part of the NY noisecore godfathers euro tour and i'd been well up for it, as i hadn't seen them before and their bass is colossal. so i drove up yesterday evening, quite early as i'd been working over in the east. Wandered in to find myself the first person there. The owners/staff were also understandably concerned and were chasing up the promoter on the phone at that moment. It was then revealed that apparently they had shifted the gig to the retro bar. AND THE NIGHT BEFORE. While i had my consolation pint there was a steady stream of would-be punters likewise unawares, fair enough the band might not be able to update their myspace etc while on the road but this was a real fuck-up. presumably they played the night before to a handful of the promoters friends who they were able to let know in advance. i'd obviously used up all my good gig-going luck with the no means no close shave the other week. anyway, cunts with a capital K, i say

you'd think the promoter would have "promoted" this thing properly. surley the promoters had enough time to go on myspazztic and put out a last minute bullitten or something? and let the star and garter know whats happening....meh.
cock stains....

(Cue Hovis advert music) - When I were a lad... In 4Q - we had this guy Dave Bennett who promoted a shit load of gigs for us. The first of which was at The Boardwalk in Manchester. We turned up with Blitzkrieg (who were late as usual) to play the show and the venue knew nothing of it and said we'd have to pay £170 to play. We didn't pay but promised the owner that Dave would fork out the cash. We didn't see the point of playing to ourselves - as there was no posters, no advertising- nothing. Just by chance a load (and I mean a load) of students were walking past on their way into town and we convinced them that our gig was the perfect place for entertainment. They paid their £2 fees and got a superb performance from 4Q (even if I say so myself!). Unfortunately all the students fucked off 2 into Blitzkrieg's set...! The following gig was in Bradford and the venue was actually a building site with a stage.! Wheelbarrows cement etc. We did the gig with Anhrefn and played to about 30 people - I think we cancelled all the other shows after that. members.aol.com/fq87/32.htm
