WISDOM IN CHAINS

(review by steve brute)
Wey!! another review, more hardcore bands!! What can i say?
I finished college, got picked up by tinman & ron, and we pretty much hit the road. the uncormfortable ride was gonna be worth it, i kept thinking to myself as the gear stick hit my flabby thigh again and again and again...maybe i should start smoking, at least i'll get a window seat...but this review is not about the journey!
We got in to Stoke quite early and had time to wonder the place. Well, there was nobody around, and nowhere open!! So we went into the unicorn inn (odd looks from locals thrown in) for a pint, a shandy and a coke.
The crowd were starting to gather as we got there and as we got into the underground, the biggest stink it my face! i can't decribe the stink, but for the purpous of this review...smear your face with cat turd!
ok, WISDOM IN CHAINS hit the stage, and they were fucking ace! Aggressive hardcore singing songs about the working class, corruption and lost friends. "please buy a cd, it helps fund our very expensive hobby" turns out that the boys from WIC are full time tradsemen so i did them a favour and bought myself a t-shirt. The crowd though, were boring as fuck. only a couple of guys were slamming away. but it didn't stop the band playing an ace set, i will definatley be watching them again next time they tour over here!
now, the crowd filled up quite full obviously the usual "we'll watch the main band" blah blah! people need to watch the support bands cause there maybe a band that they like!
SICK OF IT ALL hit the stage starting with "take the night off work" which went down a storm.....with the 20 people slamming. the rest forming the usual D and standing looking bored. But, SOIA carried on anyway and played an amazing 40 minute set. songs like "Machete", "Step Down" and "Scratch The Surface" were played with the same ferocity. Ron shouting "play Rat Pack!!!" to which Lou replied "ssshhh! it's coming up later!" and when it was played they got a member of the crowd to sing it, Lou told the guy "dont fuck it up!" and fair doos he didn't! the set ended with the usual 'wall of death' which the 20 slammers did and didn't make it seem as impressive as past gigs and videos i've seen).
Overall, the bands were amazing and tight as fuck. It was just the crowd that were shite. i guess Stoke-On-Trent aren't ready for hardcore....
here's the best wall of death i've seen...
