With my jaw agape and my head shaking in disbelief I could only be watching one band - Carpet (pic below). That's how you'll find me when this band perform. I'm in total awe everytime they put plastic to wire and wood to skin. They defy the natural laws of music and shouldn't be allowed. Shock and awe from start to end, like a grunge thrilled butthole surfer intent on spiking your cerebral cortex with acid laced chords at volume 11. Carpet take a syringe of untamed melody and inject it straight into your fucking eyes. Amazing.

Playing and promoting their 'Ever Decreasing Circles' EP Mold's very young, but very loud Day Before Mortality (top pic), may get big enough one day to break the hearts of any potential girlfriends, but today they have to remain content with simply breaking your eardrums. It was hardcore-metal with more emphasis on hardcore; which isn't a bad thing. Lots of movement on stage, lots of spunk and plenty of confidence. It was good to see, and good to hear gutteral growling and less whining. Nice one. www.myspace.com/thedaybeforemortalityuk
Idiot's Logic from downtown Abergele got the short straw of a late start and Carpet's enduringly long pre-gig set up, which meant me running from the man with a slipper just before witching hour, which is a pity cos a wazz on their myspazz knocks up an indie band with a twist - check 'em out (is that Pigeon Man song about that bloke in Rhyl covered in seeds and shit? www.myspace.com/idiotslogic - maybe someone could do a quick account of their set.
