I wasn't going to announce this until everything was done and dusted but the opening - hopefully - is imminent under a new name, Venue4Events. Basically, the Planning Dept at Denbighshire County Council has granted us permission to change the usage of the building which in essence means that we are now able to stage live gigs there, something that the venue's previous regime had never bothered obtaining (hence all the hassle). We're now into the 28 days notice period legally required by the Licensing Dept prior to them granting us an extension on opening hours until 1 am and, provided there are no objections from anyone, this will come into effect on October 29. We've got the fire and health & safety bods coming back in this week to give us their final clearance so, provided all things go smoothly, we'll be starting gigs in early November. Wish lists, please!!!!!!!!!!!!! www.freewebs.com/bloodandlipstickwww.myspace.com/framesofficial

The showcase gigs will be on Saturday nights, while Fridays will be aimed at a slightly older audience and will include tribute acts etc. Beyond that, things are quite fluid because we'll be looking to bring in the kind of acts who currently play the likes of Central Station and Telfords Warehouse and so we'll need to be versatile enough to tie in with the acts' overall touring schedules. I've recently had one booking agent contact me about booking just about every late 70s/ early 80s punk band still doing the rounds - anybody for Vice Squad....or Ed Tudor-Pole....or The Lurkers....or the Anti Nowhere League? The Sex Pistols Experience are keen to tack on a date at the front of their next Irish tour as it can be played prior to them getting the overnight ferry. Beyond that, other names that have been chucked at me include Nick Harper, NATO and The Loungs but what I really need now is for people to let me know who they want to come to the venue. Over to you guys!!!

GP would definitely be the #1 choice to be added to any of those bills, though I'd hope that there will also be opportunities to put them on with acts that are a little more contemporary! While I've got no problem in putting the old timers on periodically, I don't want it to be at the expense of emerging young talent otherwise we risk becoming like the Limelight Club in Crewe where the vast majority of the programme is made up of tribute acts, covers bands and any current bands tend to feature guys who had their glory days several decades ago. Obviously what we do is ultimately dictated by the public so, once again, it's over to you guys. www.freewebs.com/bloodandlipstickwww.myspace.com/framesofficial

Steve, that's great news! Well I think seeing as I brought it up, it'd be rude not to have Sona on the bill....

Maybe Wednesday at Zu could be used more for the local bands and if they are deemed to be ready to fill support slots for other bands who come to Frames?
Also, try and get Failsafe and Sonic Boom Six on! There both fantastic!

Well, i think you and Central station need to get yr heads together, they seem to do it pretty well, with great mix - plenty of metal nites, under 18 nights, but more importantly over 14 nites - big names etc etc....

Yeah over 14s would be good, most gigs we go to seem to be run that way and they're nearly always packed and usually the majority of the audience are still over 18 so it's not like a teen disco, We've found that most of the kids who want to go to see live bands around here are too young (17) to get in but they also avoid the under 18 nights coz they feel too old for those
