GLOBAL PARASITE/ ANTI-VIRUS/ MURDERBURGERS @ HALT BAR, GLASGOW 11/10/08.
First off thanks to everyone who turned up for this gig. It was pretty busy considering that the vibrators were playing the same night (must have been because it was free, haha). First band on were The Murderburgers who blasted out their high octane pop-punk (good pop punk though- think the Queers/Screeching Weasel rather than blink inspired shite). The Murderburgers have great tunes, tons of energy and are one of the best bands playing this kinda stuff in the uk at the moment- check 'em out if ya aint already seen 'em.
Next up was anti virus who were fuckin' excellent (especially the drummer, who was like a dynamic mixture of Keith Moon and Animal from the muppets). The music was punk in essence but there was also a lot more going on, and at times reminded me of both Fugazi and Rage against the Machine. The highlight for me was when Global Parasite's drummer Dave Cox joined in on vocals for the frenetic "No Classification".
Last band on was Global Parasite and their impassioned, angry, highspeed Hardcore punk had a lot of the punx (myself included) jumping about the place. In fact the dancing must've got a bit out of hand cos after their set the floor was covered in broken glass (thank fuck i never slipped on that, haha). With speeches about Bush and the New world order inbetween their songs these political punkers have a lot to say, and along with Anti-virus and the Murderburgers are shining examples of how punk is still alive and well, and more importantly, vital and relevant in the Uk. Fuck nostalgia, Fuck the Vibrators- the punks who came to this gig know what the real deal is.
cheers for now.
