Are there any regular venues in the Llandudno/Conwy area? It strikes me as odd that there wouldn't be but I don't think I've heard of anything really going on.
Cheers

Conwy has occasional gigs on at the Old Mail Coach and the Albion Vaults but they are primarily (maybe even exclusively) for covers bands - there's also open mic acoustic sessions at the Malt Loaf. Llandudno could well have been the inspiration for the Aliens movie's tagline of "in space no-one can you hear you scream" as you cannot scream, sing or even fart loudly without drawing the attentions of the town's elected officials who gag anything louder than the terminal whimpers of those who've moved there to die. I tried putting on bands at The Townhouse two years ago - that lasted for one-and-a-bit gigs before the landlord, under pressure from various seafront hotel managers, pulled the plugs on Capguns. The West Shore Club used to put regular punk nights on until the venue was closed and as far as I'm aware the premises are now derelict and the Washington has periodically tried to start stuff up but quickly been stamped on by officialdom. At the moment I'm doing a few acoustic sessions at the Cottage Loaf but that's about it as far as I'm aware. www.freewebs.com/bloodandlipstickwww.myspace.com/bloodandlipstick

the townhouse "incident" demonstrated why there are no venues in llandudno, purple rinse brigade uber alles!
The Lounge has at least accommodated some hiphop stuff, maybe they'll chance their arm with some more noise.

there is, but it's basically the function room for a football club in the middle of nowhere/in a suburban housing estate. not likely to attract much passing trade but if you are just looking for a place to hire maybe it would do you.

The Lounge in llandudno have recently contacted us (Global Parasite) about playing there so if they are asking us they must be allowing some noise haha, so maybe its a sign of good things to come from the venue which now has some new management or sumthing who want to make the place a decent music venue, they also do things with a sound guy and all that jazz so it does has potential!
Ask for Tony Edwards at the lounge. dont know if he'd mind me posting his phone numbers on here so message myspace.com/globalparasite if u want the contacts

I tried putting on bands at The Townhouse two years ago - that lasted for one-and-a-bit gigs before the landlord, under pressure from various seafront hotel managers, pulled the plugs on Capguns. It was us. Capguns got through their set, albeit with some moaning via notes. Then when we were setting up our gear and testing levels, etc, the landlord pulled the plug and said "play quiet or not at all", so we packed up, left, and got drunk instead. Also, a couple of our friends got abused by locals in the pub that night. Cunts.
