Bastions were given the very nice opportunity to put on shows with bands they like in the UK in Central Station once a month.
So far; we've done too.. First one with Throats and the second with Lower Than Atlantis.
Both shows have pulled no more than 40 people.
Soooo; what's the big deal? People don't really show up to gigs anyways round here, right? Well that's just it! Everyone calls for more 'hardcore' shows. Well you've had them. You just missed them.
Anyways emo moment over; it's basically our last chance on the 29th of July. If we don't ram it up; we lose the night - we can't put any more on anymore. Which is pretty tragic I think...
So; travelling from down South we have MATHS and KEROUAC. We also have localler acts in the form of MYTH OF ATLANTIS and DREDERICK TATUM.
We'll play too.
So if you feel like helping keeping a night alive. 29th of July; central station Wrexham - a 14+ show.

We're at the Rock'n'blues fest otherwise we'd be there... Send me a flyer or post one on here and I'll tweet and stick it on the front page

Whoa there fella, hold your horses. If you think bands like Dredrick Tatum are "hardcore" then we aren't even on the same page. Kids in lumberjack shirts who appear to spend more time on their haircuts than they do writing songs whilst trying to be the next Dead Swans aren't my idea of hardcore. There are some excellent UK HC bands around: Never Again, Breaking Point, Abolition, Ironclad, Cold Snap, Times Together, Hello Bastards, Hang The Bastard, xCurraheex etc etc. Maybe the bands that play at your gigs don't appeal to the HC fans in this area? And travelling from Colwyn Bay/Rhyl area to Wrecsam for a gig involves an almost 100 mile round trip. Anyway, despite all that I'll try and make it to the next gig purely because the "scene" in north Wales doesn't need another venue turning its back on live music. I hope you get a decent turn-out and the nights can continue.

The only prob with Central Station is there's no draught beer and they charge £3.40 for a bottle, which is effectively £3.40 for a half pint.

Gaz.
Seriously.
That is precisely the reason we're done with playing this area. You continue to focus on the haircut and not the attitude. Yes i'll agree that perhaps they are a bit too image conscious and follow to many a fickle trend - but their heart IS in the right place and for that reason alone i'll always have time to put them on at a gig.
And fuck you, I have a lumberjack shirt.

My point is that there are far too many H/C bands around that are concerned with their haircuts, clothes and general image. If a band was in H/C for the right reasons, none of those things would matter at all. Anyway, I didn't mean to hijack your thread. Good luck with the gig, I wont bother coming down though.

So...if your band contains members that work with the fashion of the moment; have the right haircut, the right shirts etc...they couldn't possibly be into hardcore? Or dare I say, be able to play it?
Surely such a standpoint would put you in no better a box than those 'scenesters' that ruin the scene?

I imagine Henry Rollins has some significant mirror time behind him.
Would you ditch Black Flag on that basis?

I agree.
I have never been to a Michelle McManus gig simply because I think her music is slightly less fun than seeing blood on my toilet paper. It has nothing to do with the fact that she looks like the back end of a bus made of pig turds. Well, not too much to do with it.
