Sour grapes Stevey boy? Are Blu now intending to PAY bands MONEY? REAL MONEY? Not crappy scraps of paper for a quid off drinks... because if they are - rejoice!

No this isnt steve.
I have dealt with the greed of this place that when you ask for a certain amount of equipment that is industry standard and damn cheap they still skimp.
They will always cut corners, they will always just put bands on because they think itl draw punters in.
We will be booking out of town more now because the talent around north wales is stagnant.
Our bands get paid. Any attitudes or ego just get banned.
I wish blu good luck a little competition never hurt anyone.
much love

Hmm, you've got wires crossed by the sound of things, Twatina!!! I post under Blood & Lipstick - always have, always will - so any supposed sour grapes are not mine. To put the record straight, I reluctantly took the decision to move from Bar Blu after four years because of ongoing problems with the PA that came to a head when I had to borrow a system from the Dudley Arms because Blu's hadn't been serviced and was thus inoperable. There was and continues to be no personal animosity between myself and anyone among the staff or management at Bar Blu - ask Blu owner Tony Maddocks and he will confirm this. Given that your first paragraph was addressed to me, I assume that the other part of your post was aimed likewise and from that I would infer that you somehow hold me responsible for Bar Blu's former policy of paying bands in beer vouchers. I will therefore take this opportunity to reiterate the fact that it was a policy that was initiated and maintained by Bar Blu themselves, not me, and they changed that policy after I left presumably because they realised that it was something that reflected badly on them. I'm maintaining a working relationship with Blu through the under 18s nights I'm hosting there - the first gig takes place on Monday, September 3 and features Race Against Disaster, Guru Kane and The Spizzletons - which would hardly suggest that I have a problem with the venue or its management!!! With regard to my colleague's comments about the booking policy at Billys, we will be looking to bring in more out-of-town acts in the coming months but I wouldn't share his opinion that talent around North Wales is stagnant. However, I would say that my policy of giving EVERY band from the area at least one shot has sometimes driven quality downwards and so the under 18s nights will become a platform for young local acts to show their mettle and I will give those that prove themselves ready a slot at Billys (and I've no doubt that Tony will also promote them to the Wednesday nights in Blu as well). I'm also looking at a couple of small pub venues in the region with a view to putting young band showcases on so everybody stands to gain in the long run.
