Some pathetic cunt tried to get us in trouble with the benefits people. apprently our drummer is "earning lots of money out of the band/label and the gigs he puts on so he's defrauding benefits"! 9/10 gigs we put on are fuckin FREE for a start. and the ones that were put on with an entry fee : the money goes to bands and the landlord. what a fuckin insult to what its all about. we are out of fuckin pocket/close to having a heart attack most of the time cus of the commitment to the scene and this band so fuck you. it will take them five minutes to find out we make little if any profits from the band or the gigs and the label is a charity for people who are in the exact position of being unemployed you thick cunt. we maybe wrong in posting this here. but just so whoever did it if they do use this board can read it Silly tit, nice try though the fuckin goon. It will take more than that to bring us to a halt the daft twat fuck fuck fuck how many times did we say fuckin fuck! minge

You have to be careful with stuff like that. I was on the dole for 2 years in Bangor and I got screwed on quite a few occasions.
The problem is that even if your organisation is not making any profit, as long as money is changing hands you legally have to declare it which is a total pain in the arse. I seem to remember that the job centre allowed you to earn £5 on top of your dole money per week (whoopee!) - Total crap. That's probably changed since 1998 though!
You guys have been through the 'New Deal fo musicians' thing haven't you? Doesn't that count for 'actively seeking work?'. Just a thought - you may have been totally up front about it from day one.

The Alarm had a similar thing when they were just starting and had the dole harrassing them and stopping their money, if I remember the local Tory MP (of all people) Sir Anthony Meyer took their case to the Houses of Parliament in support of the band.
No one ever grassed me up when I used to drive trucks and sign on... err.. whoops!!

I am 'proud' to say prior to being a daytime TV enthusiast, sorry working from home, I worked for the DHSS/Job Centre for 21 years & the whole thing is a farse. The rules when I was there stated that you could work part time & keep £5 of your earnings so long as you worked no more than 15 hours per week. I was 'thrilled' once during my time on the dark side to be sent to the Fraud department & handed a file on punk band Bomb Disneyland who were in a similar sitaution to GP. Some sad bastard kept sending in cuttings from the music press & I was instructed maybe I should call them in & ask how many hours they spent rehearsing, performing, song writing, driving to gigs etc. & if it was over 15 I should stop their money.I suggested I was given an immediate transfer & returned to hiding behind filing cabinets looking busy.

haha. well if we "earned" five pounds a week that would truely be something!! most gigs you play you SOMETIMES get some money towards what it cost you to get there, but it rarely breaks even. The sale of our merch amounts to fuck all cus it all goes straight back out again and its generally non-profit anyway, CCM deal with that, and the whole point of giving u stuff to sell is to help u to do all of what i have mentioned: A rehearsal once a week and gigs away is about it. They do it with funding. which is all on the books. so any job centre goon (sorry iwan!) will have just wasted time they could be spending irritating the rest of society.
So what the fuck is the point in filling in some forms to "declare" what isnt fucking there?! Shall we demand that every golf/fishing/tennis/football player/whatever enthusiast declare everything they do? NO. and winning a comp or getting a sponser is far more profitable than doing something u love because of what u believe in and the love for the music. stop trying to monitor everything And more importantly people who obviously have an agenda with this attempt at grassing us up on nothing at all but lies...come see us and do it that way you cowardley fucking wanker.
happy days

Unfortunately every golf/fishing/tennis/football player/whatever is in the same boat. They have to declare it too if they generate income.
The worst story I heard of was some bloke on Anglesey who played in an Elvis tribute band, but didn't apply for tax registration.
The tax-blokes did an evaluation and the bloke was billed £4000 - there was hardly any evidence and the poor bastard had to foot the bill. I don't want to make any musicians feel paranoid, but these things do happen. Whilst I realise it's all very unfair, them's the rules and it pays to be aware of them. Sadly.

"we maybe wrong in posting this here. but just so whoever did it if they do use this board can read it " It was that line that made me think this, espescially after all the board(dom) "beef". Ive never grassed in my life, I have very strong views against it and all of GP no this from experience due to the Law and from just knowing me.

Calm down Duncan, it was late, I may have jumped to conclusions and my wordings wrong.
If anyone grassed up Dave it was probably the job centre themselves a lot of their employee's live and work in the Bay and may have see him at the juice bar/imp/litten tree, either performing or helping out and jumped to conclusions after seeing him sign on and make the connection. The same thing happened with Jam from Lantern when someone from the Bay JC seen him in the papers and denied him JSA. I came to the conclusion that they were accusing me as I am the only person who has had arguments or any other grievances with GP, when they posted this saying if the person uses this board it seemed to be directed at me, or it would seem that way as I am the only one publicly, 'cept maybe pet sounds, who slagged them off. I wanted to clear my name as people may assume its me, as I have no part to play in this.
You can come out from hiding now Duncan it's over, now that wasnt so bad was it.

The same thing has happened to countless people I know. One person I played in a band with was reported for benefit fraud a couple of years back. We still have no idea who reported them.
The simple fact is, if you're going all out on promotional campaigns, posting flyers and now with heightened usage of the internet, it's so easy to find information on people. Even a complete simpleton could collect very personal data on someone they've never met before. George Orwell was not wide of the mark.
I remember getting into trouble with the Bangor dole office in 1996 for merely saying I was a musician at my 'interview' - the bloke cottoned on immediately and asked me if I played live, how much money I was getting etc. I had to go through so much bollocks for £38.50 a week it became impractical. I eventually conceded defeat and got a horrible job in a pottery for next to no money. It was worth it just to get the dole office off my back. Even in that scenario you still have to consider tax registration if you're going to play music.
I wonder how long it is before the Inland Revenue start looking at myspace and prosecuting all the emo bands for tax evasion! The internet is great for freedom of information. Unfortunately, the government may soon find it equally useful.

Don't tell me to fuck off you paranoid shit.
I'm fucking concerned about your mental stability, besides believing all these stupid conspiracies, the accusations you made surrounding last octobers shananigans is just plain absurd. I don't have anything to hide from you but you believe:
I was keeping that heavy object in a pillow case for you
That I was signing Anna into Noddfa under a false name for a month.
That we'd been seeing eachother for a lot longer than we had.
That we set this whole thing up behind your back just to hurt you.
That my friendship for the 7 years before this was fake.
And lately that Im grassing you up to the jobcentre claiming your band makes money, I know you dont make a penny so how could I claim otherwise?
You are showing the symptons of a paranoid schizophrenic, I have nothing to hide and will admit to anything Ive done or am but you won't listen to or believe these as your minds already made up.
This world isnt black and white, the way you seem to see it there are grey areas and you should understand that there isn't just good and bad, everyone has a motive where they believe they are doing what's best, this applies in life as well as politics, but you cant seem to grasp this as you believe in evil demon worshipping mandevils out to kill the whole of humanity. There is information in books films fitional and non fictional I could link to back up this point, I dont swear by it but it shows things from all sides, but I dont think you'd take notice without an unbiased opinion and an open mind which you claim to have, but are nowhere close to.
As for me and Anna, we are happy and we both will be for the rest of our lives. If that was such a horrendous thing for us to do to you so be it, the way youve acted over this I care no longer to know you as I think you are foolish and just plain stupid. Anything I have done I will declare but the things you are accusing me of are absurd and if your not carefull then you may end up in the Ablet via Nant y Glyn. So take care of that brain as its the only one youve got. I cant be arsed arguing this any further as I am having far to much fun down here.
Good luck with your band, life and everything else. As I am very happy at the moment and am getting on with mine.
Peace.
JuZ x
